I think this is a terrible idea because it makes virginity a status rather than a state of being which can change at any time. If someone wants to lose their virginity later on in life, it should be their choice and not because someone around them thinks it's wrong to do so. In this case, I think Ranger was right to tell Stephanie about his grandmother's attitude towards him because it proved that his grandmother was only looking out for him from behind her idealistic view of things. He was just a kid and needed all the help he could get from his mother and grandmother so he should have been willing to take their advice even if he didn't agree with them.

If he hadn't told Stephanie what his grandmother wanted him to do then things would have gone very differently for him because he would have been nervous and scared about having sex with her when he was only sixteen years old . It's sad that such an innocent conversation could lead to such serious consequences for both parties involved but sometimes you just gotta go with the flow instead of fighting against it. What happens if you fight against things? You end up losing and getting hurt in the process and everything gets worse than it already was before you started
